Laminated PDLC Smart Film is a versatile material employed by glass laminators to create innovative smart glass solutions. This specialized film, comprised of a liquid crystal polymer layer sandwiched between two conductive layers, offers exceptional transparency and the ability to control light transmission. When combined with EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) glue, laminated PDLC smart film is used to produce laminated glass and triplex smart glass. The resulting laminated glass windows can be electronically controlled to switch between transparent and opaque states, providing privacy benefits in various applications, particularly in architectural designs.

Coloured interlayers are laminated with our PDLC Film between two pieces of glass to produce a visually appealing, permanent colour effect. When the switchable privacy glass panel is turned ‘on’ there is minimal diminution of clarity.

Coloured Switchglass™ can be processed using multiple glass configurations and makeups as required. You can incorporate the Switchglass colour range with options such as acoustic, structural, shaped, double glazed and ballistic to name a few.

An interesting window design feature can be created by having a window laminated with only a percentage of it covered with Switchable Privacy film and the balance in clear film. The percentage can be varied to whatever ratio you would like, or you can have it laminated in alternating strips of switchable film and clear film.
